Current Union Leadership:
- Established in 1954.
- First started in Manhattan, New York City.
- First leaders of the union: Bob Cousy (first President) and Roger Mason Jr. (first vice president)
- Social/Political circumstances that led to the formation of this union: NBA players were not receiving wide-ranged privileges or protection that exists today. The players received no health benefits and the salary was only $8,000 per year.
- 30 basketball teams and about 10- 20 more people who are a part of the executive committee.

- On August 21, 2013, the NBPA elected Chris Paul the President
- NBA has received criticizing letters from both sports writers and fans involving racism and dress code.
- NBPA gives donations to charities and organizations in need such as heart centers, places which have been destroyed from weather, and even simple organizations to raise different awarenesses.
